Have you ever woken up feeling sore and achy after a particularly tough workout, or had some struggle to recover between two workouts?

One of them is by using some electric stimulation devices such as Powerdot.
Few month ago, Powerdot Europe launched a contest to give away some Powerdot Uno.
Luckily, I got the chance to get one of them and I’ve been playing around with this little toy for a while so I thought it could be interesting to share my experience with you.
What is Powerdot?
Created 2 years ago in Singapore, Powerdot is an electric muscle stimulation device that helps you to activate your muscle fibers before, during, or after your workout.
You can now find it very easily as they ship it everywhere in the world!

So how does it work?
The device is composed only of a small pod and two pads connected by a cable. Then it works with your phone thanks to the Bluetooth technology.
As well as his famous rival Compex, Powerdot is based on the electrical muscle stimulation (EMS) which uses electric impulses to cause a muscle to contract. This contraction causes the muscle to get stronger.
It can be used both for recovery or for training:

Concretely, Powerdot is an amazing tool for recovery because it will help flush all the junks in your muscles after a workout and speed up the burn off process. In that way, it will help your muscles to recover faster and avoid soreness.
Build muscle
Powerdot can also be really useful to reach your performance goals while training. Indeed, when you contract your muscle you only recruit about 50% of the muscle group. When you use EMS, in addition, you contract a much higher percentage of the muscle. As a result, it will help you to reach your goals like running faster, jumping higher, and lifting more.
This makes Powerdot the perfect partner for some of your accessory work!
The Powerdot app comes with a lot of different programs, from recovery to training, with more than 18 muscle groups focus which allows you to have a really complete use of the product.


What we like about it!
After using it for 4 months, I’ve been able to to make up my mind and to test Powerdot in my daily life.
The first thing I really like about Powerdot is its small and compact design. You can literally bring it everywhere with you!
For example, before the Normandie Throwdown, a competition I did one month ago in France, I used my Powerdot for the whole car ride (during 7h I had plenty of time to test all the programs lol). I also took it on the plane with me when I flew to Shanghai, or even at the office before I hit the gym (maybe avoid to do it if you’re wearing pants and you want to warm-up your quads, just sayin’ …)
It’s also very convenient as you only need your smartphone to use it, thanks to Bluetooth.
Another great advantage is that you don’t need to buy their newest device to have the latest features, you just need to update your app, whether you’re using iPhone or Android, and in a few seconds you can obtain the very new features.
For example, recently they did a big update to improve the features regarding the feedback they had from the users and added new muscles groups and new programs. Now they have really well-designed programs made to match with everyone’s needs.
And does it work?
Yes! I mean, don’t expect a miracle tool which erases pain and soreness or that will make you 2 times stronger within a month with no effort, of course! But the original promise of helping the body to recover faster, and you to feel better, is kept.
I mostly use it to recover after a big workout session because I’ve actually noticed that if I don’t use it before I go to sleep, I’ll wake up feeling sore, but if I use it, I’ll feel a lot better and ready to workout again.

For example, I think of workouts like Murph. I did this one like 5 months ago when I didn’t have my Powerdot yet, and for those who’ve already done this one, it can be a bit (a lot?) painful for the legs the day after. This time, indeed, the day after Murph everything hurt and I couldn’t workout properly. Then I did Murph again 3 months ago and used my Powerdot 1 or 2h after, and the day after I was feeling really good, almost no soreness!
