The cooldown show of the 2017 Reebok Crossfit Invitational was full of surprises.
Dave Castro announced a lot of changes for the next season, some were expected, some were not.
This is the end of the team of 6 for the Crossfit games. The new format is 4 per team to have a better programming and a better visual aspect.
By reducing the size of the teams, Dave Castro also wants to make easier for spectators to follow each member individually.
He also mentioned that it will be easier for the affiliates now to find 4 good athletes to build a team.
As expected (and as everybody wanted), Dave Castro announced some modifications for the regions to be fairer and to really find “The Fittests on Earth”.
- South America is going to have its own region.
- Canada West, West and California will be one region.
- Europe will be divided in two regions, North (Northern countries) and South (South Africa and Middle East).
Another important point is the places given to each region.
Now, North America will send 25 athletes and the rest of the world 15.
South America will only have one spot, South Europe 4 and North Europe 5.
Dave Castro said that the Opens are going to be more exciting than ever, he might change what we were used to see. I personally think that we should train our handstand walk!
